Major dental reconstruction is an art as well as a science and it requires a great deal of training and skill to provide a good outcome. Many attempts end in failure and this can usually be traced back to a dentist's willingness to take on more than he or she can chew (pun intended). This was a male patient in his 60's who presented with a failing dentition. Loss of teeth over many years had lead to a loss of normal landmarks and this patient presented quite a challenge indeed.
	The presenting restoration was a maxillary and a mandibular removable partial denture. The patient was not happy with this restoration.
	Radiographically, he had plenty of bone in the lower arch (actually, too much as you will see) and the maxilla was fairly compromised....
