Dr. Davidoff (Pictured in the Photo on the left taken April 2011) is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. The Tufts Dental School, located in Boston Massachusetts, is known as one of the finest dental schools in the world. After two years served in the United States Air Force, Dr. Davidoff moved back to his home town in upstate New York and practiced with his father for several years as a general dentist. In 1977, Dr. Davidoff began training with the world renowned expert in cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Jack D. Preston at the Wadsorth Veteran's Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He completed his Prosthodontic Residency in 1979 and returned to New York and Private Practice.
Dr. Davidoff passed the American Board of Prosthodontics certification examination in 1984 and that allowed him to be recognized as a Board Certified Prosthodontist. The same year, he was in the first class in the North American Continent to train dentists in Modern Dental Implant techniques... The same techniques that are in use today. The training was held in Toronto, Canada and was divided up between three groups of dental specialist. All three groups were taught the essentials and basics of the new dental implant techniques. The oral Surgeons and Periodontists were then trained to place dental implants and Dr. Davidoff, along with the rest of the Prosthodontists was trained to restore the implants. These courses were not available to general dentists at this time.
In 1989, Dr. Davidoff was the first non-surgically trained dentist to be allowed to take the Nobel Pharma training course in the surgical placement of dental implants. Dr. P. I. Branemark, the discover of modern dental implant technology, believed that oral surgeons should place dental implants and that Prosthodontists should restore them. Dr. Davidoff believed that it was better for everyone involved, especially the patient, if the implants could be placed and restored by the Prosthodontist. He was so active in implantology at the time that he eventually pursaded the company to train him and allow him to place dental implants.
In the following years, Dr. Davidoff perfected his techniques with over 15,000 implants and restorative situations involving hundreds and hundreds of patients. He published many articles in the dental literature and lectured around the Globe. Today, he practices what he learned over all those years with skill and dedication and still welcomes new patients from all over the world.
