There
has been a lot of discussion about developing crown contours and the proper
emergence profile from implant retained restorations. I have played around
with all sorts of abutments and configurations and find that the simplest
approach is most often the best. My feeling is that emergence profile
is defined by two things: Implant location and the contours of the actual
restoration. It is fairly independent of the shape of the implant, the
shape of the abutment or whether or not you have a screw retained or a
cemented restoration. This sections will show one way in which I like
to develop emergence profile in my crown and bridge implant retained restorations
using a standard UCLA abutment and a standard external hex implant. The radiograph depicts an IMTEC implant placed in the area of the first maxillary bicuspid. |
