Replacing a Failing Blade Implant
This was a very interesting situation where a patient presented with a long span Fixed partial denture that was supported by a failing blade implant. The treatment was slightly complicated by the fact that she had a double heart valve replacement! I thought a long time about the treatment plan for this patient and ultimately decided to remove the failing blade and place as many implants as possible to replace the missing teeth. There were five teeth missing and the total expanse of the bridge was from the right second molar to the left central incisor (8 units)
