Slant-Lock Overdenture

The Slant Lock overdenture designed by Ralph Mayes of Oklahoma is one of the best, easiest and economical fixed-removable implant supported prosthesis available today. Over the years, I've done many of these and the patients always like the results. I find the technique to be much preferable to Spark Erosion overdentures because of the simplicity, serviceability and cost factors.

Pictured is a patient after second stage surgery. six implants were placed in the mandible. Standard abutments were attached to the implants and the picture on the left shows the cover screws in place on the abutments. The minimum amount of implants advisable for this technique is four, but I am much more comfortable with five or six because the final prosthesis will function as a fixed prosthesis.
