This
patient was scheduled for an 8 am impression session to construct the
final restoration. Unfortunately, it was on a Monday morning and my hydrocolloid
unit had been off for the weekend. This is one of the rare occasions I
used polyether for the final impression. When I tried in the casting, it was evident that I had failed to properly place one of the impression copings and the casting had to be sectioned. I placed the three pieces in the mouth and made a GC Pattern Resin jig. I removed the center implant analog from the working cast, attached it to the connected bridge and set the analog back into the working cast using more pattern resin. This allowed my lab technician to remake the central unit and solder the entire bridge back together accurately. Porcelain was applied to the soldered unit without re-trying it back into the mouth since we were sure that we now had an accurate working cast. Porcelain was applied right down to the apical extent of the abutment. A small cantilever was used to fill out the molar contour. |
