Check the final depth with a depth gauge. Keep in mind that if you are mixing and matching components from different manufacturers, the lines are going to be placed at different distances on each piece. Once you are sure you have enough depth, the site should be tapped.

Tapping is a very judgmental procedure. I only tap in the anterior mandible and differently depending upon the density of the bone. If the bone is very dense, I go way into the site, If it is mushy, I just tap a few mm's.
