Here's a real interesting situation. I placed
two implants in the anterior mandible and one of them did not integrate.
I replaced the implant, but while it was integrating, I placed a transitional
implant and loaded it for the retention of the overdenture... |

Above, you can see the insertion of the transitional
implant right through the soft tissues. On the right, you can see the smaller
transitional implant and an EDS abutment. This photo was taken at initial
placement... |
 |
The photo on the left shows the transitional implant
and the EDS abutment after several months of service. The patient's oral
hygiene leaves a little to be desired, but the implants are functioning
perfectly... |

At the right is a patient about three minutes after
the insertion of three transitional implants into the anterior mandible(there
were two existing implants). Note there is no incision or sutures and no
bleeding. Transitional implants were used here because of the patient's
medical problems. The patient has been evaluated since placement of these
implants which were hooked up to his overdenture that same day and he is
doing extremely well... |
