The x-ray below is callled a Full Mouth Series and it is used to show more of the detail of the teeth than the Panorex radiograph. Here we have greater detail of what the teeth and their surrounding structures look like and we can fabricate a more accurate diagnosis of dental problems from this type of radiograph. The Panorex is more useful for getting the overall general picture of what is going on.

No matter which type of x-ray series is used, they must be of high quality. If the x-rays that your dentist is using are not as clear as these, ask him why and then listen carefully to the answer. If a dentist does not start out with good x-rays, he or she can't do a good diagnostic job. You might want to check out my Pet Peeves section about x-rays . . .
